While enjoying retirement, this former architect takes to the beach to enjoy some quality hobby time. Sculpting sand castles is creatively freeing and reminiscent of building projects, even if it’s only until the tide comes in. Something caught this feisty pink lover's eyes while basking on an incredible pool floatie. A breeze off the beach gently floats by as the sun sets. I Love you Forever through all Space & Time
This pair of mandarin ducks are swimming through space rippling through the Carina Nebula like pond waves. In space's vacuum, the only entity similarly bending light like a watery reflection is a black hole. Painted in thin layers with both paintbrush and airbrush, washes of color were stacked like panes of glass. I then painted opaquely over top with bold graphic brushstrokes to capture these black hole ripples. Gouache on watercolor paper (2024.)

Soda Can can
This piece is inspired by the Shoprite commercial version of the Can Can song. I have been picturing this in my head since I was a kid. These cans are bursting with flavor off the shelf. The negative space creates the illusion of a dancers legs and they are accessorized with poptop shoes and plastic ring headbands. Gouache on watercolor paper (2023).
